Austin Bat Cave is pleased to announce a new literary series for the Austin literary set. We call it Page 2 Screen. (Think of the number as an homage to Prince, if you will.)
With Page 2 Screen, we hope to bring to Austin an entertaining and insightful discussion about literature and film, or, rather, books we love and the movies made from them. Each Page 2 Screen will feature an author discussing his or her work and the transition it made from the page to the screen, and then the movie itself. We will also offer appetizers and a cocktail reception and book signing, a chance to interact with the author, and, after the screening, time to ask him or her questions—about books, about movies, about almost anything, really.
For our very first Page 2 Screen, we’re pleased to welcome author Rick Moody in conversation with Evan Smith about his novel, THE ICE STORM, and the excellent Ang Lee adaptation of it. The screening and reception will be held at the Blanton Auditorium on December 6, 2011. It all begins at 6pm. There will be food and drink, live music and lively discussion. Tickets are $50 General Admission and $35 for students, teachers, and seniors, and you can purchase them at page2screen.eventbrite.com.
