I Don’t Have a Mane: Poem Songs $10

For our 2010-2011 Hand & Wing program, our fabulous teachers, interns, and volunteers worked with the fantastic students at Anderson High School to dive into the mysterious workings of song lyrics. They wrote poems, personal essays, incredible pieces of fiction from the points of view of various real and imagined animals, and from all of this created a bevy of song lyrics. ABC then offered these song lyrics up to some of the finest local musicians and bands we could find, and they took these lyrics and interpreted them and created from them songs. Actual, bonafide songs! Those songs have now been professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered (thanks Premium Recording and John Michael Landon!) and are now available for you to buy and listen to! With recordings by Comanche Club, Leatherbag, Western Ghost House, Sunset, Ringo Deathstarr, Aaron Behrens (of Ghostland Observatory), Crooks, Focus Group, and TV Torso, it’s a great CD for anyone who loves Austin music and who’s interested in the crazy, beautiful, unbelievable inner-workings of the Austin teen-age mind.
