We offer our programs both in schools and offsite. Our goal is to give support to students, teachers, and parents by providing creative writing workshops that incorporate a variety of writing styles through which we can strengthen a student’s understanding of the basic building blocks of writing and language and build confidence. It is our strong belief that better writing and reading skills lead to better learning. We have also formed strong partnerships with other Austin arts and non-profit organizations, such as Breakthrough Austin, the Austin Public Library Foundation, and the Austin Film Society, to name a few. Through these partnerships, we hope to reach even more students and budding authors throughout Austin’s city limits.

All of our workshops for children ages 6-18 are FREE for participants. Our workshop offerings range from the sorely needed (College Essay Writing, SAT Prep) to the totally awesome (Screenwriting, Songwriting, Hip Hop Poetry). We hold workshops on weekends and in the summer; you can learn about new workshop offerings through our newsletter and Facebook.
ABC values the relationships we have with Austin-area schools, and we’re always enthusiastic about forging relationships with new schools. We also offer programs in youth correctional facilities and crisis centers. ABC tailors programs to fit the needs of the school or facility; we have many regular (weekly/biweekly) workshops, but we also often send in volunteer instructors to help supplement the curriculum for a short-term project. We have worked with many schools in Austin, Del Valle, Manor, and neighboring districts.
