Let’s talk fear. How does a story, novel, or screenplay thrill and chill us? What are the essential ingredients of terror? Moving through classic horror narratives to modern terror masterpieces, award winning filmmaker and novelist Owen Egerton takes you through the ins and outs of exploring fear and crafting fright. Whether you’re interested in being the next Stephen King, penning a Blumhouse horror film, or just infusing your writing with a few good scares, this workshop promises to be entertaining, inspiring, and just a little creepy.

This class is open to writers at all levels.

About the Instructor:

Owen Egerton is the writer/director of three feature films: FollowBlood Fest, and Mercy Black which premiered on Netflix this past spring. As a screenwriter, Egerton has written for Fox, Disney, and Warner Brothers, and HBO. He’s written several novels including The Book of Harold the Illegitimate Son of God and Hollow which was named one of the Best Books of 2017 by NPR. Egerton is also one of the comics behind the Alamo Drafthouse’s Master Pancake Theater.
