Austin Bat Cave hosts a number of half-day creative writing summer camps all over the city. Summer camps explore genres like Fan-Fiction, Poetry Writing, Horror Writing, Songwriting, and more. Whatever your interests, we have a camp for you!
If each of our students donated $200 this summer, then Austin Bat Cave will be able to reach more students than ever before. For 15 years, Austin Bat Cave has provided free creative writing programs for Central Texas youth. This summer, we’re asking for a suggested donation in order to attend our week-long summer camps. Your donation will go towards supplies, teacher stipends, and other resources ABC needs in order to keep amplifying young voices. ABC’s actual cost is over $1,000 per camp, but we know the benefit of helping students tell their stories and sharing them with the world is priceless.
HEALTH POLICY: Austin Bat Cave continues to value the safety of our Austin Bat Cave students and instructors. To ensure that our programs are accessible for all students, including those who are high-risk, we are making the wearing of masks voluntary for students and instructors but we will provide masks upon request. We also ask that if your child is sick, please notify ABC staff and do not bring them to the program. Austin Bat Cave reserves the right to change this policy at any time should cases of Covid-19 rise in the greater Austin area or should Travis County move to a higher stage of Covid-19 risk-based guidelines.

Myths and Legends Camp (3rd-5th Grade) June 2nd-6th, 9am-12pm
Where do stories begin? Maybe in the hush of the trees, the glow of fireflies, or the ripples of a quiet stream. This summer, we’ll let nature guide our imagination. Through fairytales, folklore, and a bit of creative magic, we’ll turn what we see and hear into stories that practically leap off the page. If you want to write about enchanted forests, mythical creatures,
or the wonder of the real world, this camp is a place to explore, create, and share. If you love storytelling and fairytales, come join us for a summer of inspiration!

Choose Your Own Adventure Camp (6th-8th Grade) June 9th-13th, 1-4pm
Fantasy can be anything—an epic quest, a whimsical adventure, or a peaceful story full of magic. No matter what kind of fantasy world you love, this camp is your chance to build it from the ground up! Create heroes, villains, mythical creatures, and captivating settings that will turn into stories that transport readers to another world. Whether you’re into dark
tales or cozy stories, this camp will help you turn your ideas into something truly magical.

Stop Motion Magic Camp June 16th-20th, 1pm-4pm
This summer, bring your ideas to life through animation! From sketching out personality traits to designing expressive movements, we’ll explore what makes characters jump off the screen. Plus, a special guest speaker will share tips on crafting unique and memorable characters. Whether you’re into hand-drawn animation or digital art or just love storytelling, this camp is the perfect place to develop your skills and let your creativity shine.

D&D Camp (3rd-12th Grade) June 23rd-27th, 1-4pm
In this camp, students will create a D&D character, designing everything from their physical traits to their backstory. Campers will then work together in small parties to solve problems, defeat monsters, and save the day as they invent fantasy stories and keep a journal of their daily adventures. Join a wonderful team of adventurers and Dungeon Masters and lead your party on an unforgettable quest.
