Connecting writers with students
ABC partners with local schools and nonprofit organizations to deliver high-quality writing programs and instruction to students ages 6-18. We offer a variety of creative writing programs including fiction & poetry as well as assistance with college and scholarship essays, resume writing, and more. Programs are developed collaboratively between our team, community partners, and our lead volunteer instructors to tailor curriculum that meets the learning needs of each student group that we work with.
It is an important part of Austin Bat Cave’s mission to ensure that our writing workshops are accessible to all participants. Unless otherwise noted, virtual workshops are conducted in English. We provide closed captioning for media and virtual programs, and record events to be shared with the Austin Bat Cave community.* If you need other accommodations that will help us create a healthy mental, physical, and inclusive space, please email Xóchitl. Every year, ABC partners with nearly two dozen Austin area Title 1 schools and nonprofits to teach over 1000 students and publish hundreds of new writers in our annual anthology!
